English: The M3: Twyford Down cutting at dusk. This view shows the M3 motorway where it cuts through Twyford Down south of Winchester. The construction of the motorway through this downland was strongly opposed by various groups, but it relieved the traffic pressure on Winchester (especially lorries travelling to and from the container port at Southampton). |
