English: The Main Drain Both sides of this arrow-straight drainage ditch are neatly shored up by stone walls - it must have been a huge job to build them. It drains the peat moss where the people of Cullen used to cut their fuel until the harbour was built and coal could be delivered by sea, and it was dug by Irish labourers. Thank you, Fiona, for this information. The little bridge carries the access road to Woodside. |
