English: The Maxey Cut Looking upstream with the current gravel workings on the right. The bridge in the centre of the photograph carries a conveyor across the cut. The pipes to the right are overflow pipes from the flooded pits. There is a vast network of old pits in this area being managed for diverse wildlife. Migrant dragonflies, the Migrant Hawker (Aeshna mixta) and the Red-veined Darter (Sympetrum fonscolombei), bred at Maxey Cut in 2006. |
