Description

A floor plan of the former KGB Inner (pretrial detention) prison in what is now The Museum of Genocide Victims in Vilnius.

The floor plan also lists the history of this former court building. Here are the important years: 1899-1915: The courthouse of Vilnius government of the Russian Empire 1915-1918: Institutions of German occupying power 1920-1939: Courts of the Polish occupying power 1940-1941: NKVD (KGB precursor) Vilnius board 1941-1944: Gestapo headquarter 1944-1991: NKGB, MGB and KGB archive, prison and execution facility. Last political prisoner released in 1987.

This building truly represents a lot of suffering for the Lithuanian people!
