Summary edit

Description
English: The Narvik Campaign, 1940.

A Bren gun crew of 1st/6th Battalion, Duke of Wellington's Regiment (West Riding), 147 Brigade, 61st Division at their stations on their transport ship, the Polish liner MS Sobieski. She is lying off Gourock at the mouth of the River Clyde and has been used as a troopship for some months. The men will soon be heading off to Norway.

The men may have just been practising shooting at an aerial target. Those stood round the gun are looking up into the sky and another man further back is looking up at the sky through a pair of binoculars.

This tag is designed for use where there may be a need to assert that any enhancements (eg brightness, contrast, colour-matching, sharpening) are in themselves insufficiently creative to generate a new copyright. It can be used where it is unknown whether any enhancements have been made, as well as when the enhancements are clear but insufficient. For known raw unenhanced scans you can use an appropriate {{PD-old}} tag instead. For usage, see Commons:When to use the PD-scan tag.

Note: This tag applies to scans and photocopies only. For photographs of public domain originals taken from afar, {{PD-Art}} may be applicable. See Commons:When to use the PD-Art tag.
