birds found. Breeding in large num-bers in all parts. Nests made of driedtules, and generally fioating on thewater. Eggs seven to twelve. Onenest found containing 16 eggs. No. 223. Phalaropus lobatus, North-ern Phalarope. One pair of tlais birdseen on June 12, but nest not located. No. 224. Phalaropus tricolor, Wil-sons Phalarope. Very common inmany places, but not nesting on June12. Females had partially developedeggs. No. 225. Recurvirostra americana.American Avocet. Very common,breeding in large colonies of severalhundred birds. Nest generally aslight depression in the ground linedwith fine grass. Eggs four in number.Nesting about May 25 to June 10. No. 264. Numenius Americanus.Long-billed Curlew. Not common, butseveral pairs seen atid known to breed. No. 331. Circus hudsonius. MarshHawk. Quite common.
