English: The Old Chancel of the Old Church of St Mary the Virgin, Preston Candover (close up) This is a close up of the west door. The plaque says that it is the chancel of the old St. Mary the Virgin Church maintained by the Churches Conservation Trust. The original church (dating from 12th century) was destroyed by fire in 1884 and all but the chancel pulled down to be used as a mortuary chapel. |
