DescriptionThe Old Post Office - geograph.org.uk - 1599529.jpg |
English: The Old Post Office This 17th century thatched cottage was once the village post office. It closed in 2001 after a colourful history. Despite its drab current appearance, the post office and its cottage garden was a regular local calendar picture, as here

The post office and nearby castle were locations for the 1970 film One More Time, directed by Jerry Lewis, starring Sammy Davis Jr and a little-known British actor called Bill Maynard. It was also the only film in which Peter Cushing played Frankenstein. Christopher Lee played a vampire, which is less surprising I guess. The stars caused great excitement and many locals became extras. The film was not a great success, but that was not the fault of this pretty English location. |
