English: The Opium Captain: Captain Charles Patullo Forgan, skipper and part owner of the opium clipper ‘Waterwitch’ of Towerhills, Kilmaurs. Oil on canvas. Signed and dated, 1890. Provenance: Family descent. Strang also painted the subject's daughter Elizabeth who was married to his Slade contemporary the (future) architect James Archibald Morris (1857-1942). 20x16 inches. Framed: 26x22 inches.
