DescriptionThe POW MIA Chair of Honor (41403420815).jpg |
In November 2017 a Chair of Honor was unveiled in the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center's Emancipation Hall to commemorate American service men and women who are prisoners of war or missing in action (POW/MIA). A plaque recognizing captured or missing U.S. personnel is located on the wall above and behind the chair. The POW/MIA symbol appears at the top of the plaque, above the following text: Let this empty chair serve as a memorial to those who served in the military of our great nation, but have not returned home to us. They are Prisoners of War and Missing in Action. America will forever be grateful for your bravery and sacrifice in service to our nation. We will never forget.
