SYMPTOMS. 141 on both sides, an induration may be left in each testicle, totally ob-structing the passage of semen; in such cases does the patient stillretain sexual desires; is he capable of sexual intercourse; and ifso, how does his semen differ from that of a perfectly healthy indi-vidual ? These questions have been ably answered in a paper byDr. L. Grosselin, published in the Archives Generates de Medicine, forSept. 1853. Dr. Grosselins conclusions are based upon experiments upon thelower animals, and upon the observation of nineteen patients affectedwith double induration of the epididymis following gonorrhoea. Thespermatic cord of one side was exposed in two dogs, the vas deferensisolated from the spermatic vessels, and a portion of it excised. Theanimals were killed several months after, when it was found that thetesticle of the side operated on presented the same volume, color, andgeneral character as that of the opp
