Summary edit

Description
English: Photograph of the Reay Gate clock-tower at Junagadh, Gujarat, taken by the travelling commercial photographer F. Nelson during the 1890s. The album is inscribed: “With best compliments from H.H. Rasulkhanji, Nawab of Junagadh (India)” and was formerly in the collection of Sir William Lee-Warner (1846-1912), who served in the Indian Civil Service and was a Member of the Council of India between 1902 and 1912. In the 19th century Junagadh was developed and improved with the construction of a series of new palaces, public buildings and parks, notably during the reign of the Nawab Mahabat Khan II (r.1851-1882). The Reay Gate dates from this period and is one of the city gates. It is set within a large, arcaded two-storey crescent known as the Bahauddin Buildings with a central portico flanked by minarets and a clock-tower designed in an Indo-Saracenic style.
