ON SAN JUAN Illl.r,, SANTIAGO. 4o3 THE RED CROSS. CAMP THOMAS. The agent first appointed for Chickamauga Park, was Dr. CharlesR. Gill. Shortly afterwards, however, Dr. Gill expressed a desire togo to Cuba, and he was relieved, Mr. E. C. Smith being placed incharge of this field, which proved eventually to be one of the mostimportant stations of the Red Cross. As the demands of the campincreased, Mr. A. M. Smith was sent to assist his brother in the work.Their services have been eminently satisfactory to all concerned, andman) voluntary expressions of appreciation have been received. Allrequisitions for assistance were promptly filled by the Executive Com-mittee in New York, and in addition to the large amount of suppliessent, about $16,000 in cash were expended at the camp.
