Summary edit

Description
English: The Red Mount, King's Lynn. Also known as the Chapel of Our Lady of the Mount this unusual octagonal former chapel is in "The Walks" park in King's Lynn. This was a place of pilgrimage possibly having held a supposed relic of the Virgin Mary. Later it became a resting place for pilgrims on their way to the shrines at Little Walsingham. It was built in the reign of Richard III (1483-85) by Robert Curraunt. After many years of neglect and having sadly attracted graffiti and other vandalism, I am happy to report that in summer 2007 it underwent considerable refurbishment, and it is intended that it should reopen to the public in Spring 2008.
