Summary edit

Description
English: The Remains of the Grafog Limekiln Slipway. This slipway was featured in an epic drama of 28th-29th October 1927. The 3 masted, iron hulled ship 'Fortuna' belonging to the part-Norwegian owned Compania Argentina de Pesca bound for South Georgia from Liverpool was sunk by an explosion in rough weather 10 miles south of the Irish coast. Twenty one of the crew of 26 managed to get into a lifeboat. The wind and currents carried them to the north coast of Llyn, an incredible distance of 250 kms. Here, they managed to effect a landing at the slipway. They were looked after by the locals and treated as celebrities until the Shipwreked Mariners Society was able to arrange their repatriation to Norway.
