Summary edit
DescriptionThe Sir Nigel Gresley - geograph.org.uk - 1405017.jpg |
English: The Sir Nigel Gresley My heart missed a beat when it pulled into Grosmont station. Loads of childhood memories, all of them exciting. This train was built in 1937 by the London & North East railway and named after its designer. It was saved from scrapping by the A4 Preservation Society. If it is to run on main line track, it has to be completely overhauled every seven years, at a cost of about £750,000. The Heritage Lottery fund gives generously to allow this to happen. |
