life. In order thatthe individual Churchman may gain ade-quate missionary vision Bishop Nicholsclosed with these three counsels: First,pray daily at noon for the progress ofChrists Kingdom. Secondly, study theachievements of the Kingdom. Thirdly,live to serve rather than to be served. The most important action taken atthe business sessions was a request to theBoard of Missions to send periodically tothe Pacific Coast deputations of well-known bishops, clergymen and laymento co-operate with the local leaders incultivating a deeper spirit of missionsand greater readiness to give for Churchextension. The Pacific Churchman was adoptedas the official missionary organ of thedepartment, with the department secre-tary as editor-in-chief. It was decided to change the time ofmeeting from the spring to the autumnand to have sessions of the council on thetwo years of each triennium when theGeneral Convention is not in session. The next meeting will therefore be heldin Sacramento in October, 1911.

WHAT an Easter this of 1909has been I Of all thosewhich Fairbanks and itsvicinity have seen it wasthe best in every sense of the word exceptas regards the weather. In this particu-lar it was decidedly the worst. On GoodFriday the wind was blowing almost agale—unusual for our part of the coun-try—and Easter-Even the air was sofilled with snow that it was difficult toface it unprotected. It is our custom tohave a service of Holy Baptism on theafternoon of Easter-Even. After theGood Friday services in Fairbanks therewas a service in the evening in Chena.Saturday morning I returned to Fair-banks. At twelve oclock there was aprivate baptism in the hospital, and atthree oclock we went to church preparedfor a small congregation. Imagine ourpleasure, when the bell had ceased ring-ing, to find the church crowded, everyone of the eleven candidates—three adultsand eight children—present, and almostthe entire Sunday-scho
