Description
""The Story of Live Dolls"" was written by Josephine Scribner Gates in 1901. Ms. Gates was the daughter of a Knox County Ohio lawyer and spend much of her life in Toledo, Ohio. This is the first in a series of books. It tells the story of Janie, a little girl from Cloverdale, and the adventures she had when all the dolls in Cloverdale came alive. Illustrations in the book were done by Indiana native, Virginia Keep, later Virginia Keep Clark (1878-1962). The end pages of the book also have clippings with an additional tale pasted in them; the author and illustrator are unknown.
