Summary edit

Description
English: The Wallace statue at Dryburgh This formidable 7m high red sandstone statue, complete with shield and double-handed sword, by John Smith of Darnick, was erected in 1814 by the eleventh Earl of Buchan. It was repaired in 1991 but following some vandalism such as leaving the shield streaked with paint, hopes are increasing that funds will be made available to restore the statue once again. Surprisingly, the statue was originally painted white, but the weathered sandstone finish has a more natural grandeur suited to the subject.
