g wasto no small extent derived from their athletics. Union is strength always seemed to betheir motto, and father and sons act togetherlike one man. The boys were wonderful handicap riders,and in the days when pacemaking was not man. In this they excelled. Their judgmentwas admirable, and they were coached andtrained in the most painstaking way by theirfather, who took as much trouble with theirathletic training as he did with their businesseducation. They have always seemed a singu-larly united family, perfectly happy in eachothers company, and to rather stand alooffrom others. As racing men they were sprinters ratherthan stayers, and won by their judgment asmuch as anything else. On the ordinarybicycle they never got inside the ioo yardsmark. It was on the safety that they shone,and Arthur was good on the tricycle. PERE DuCROS AND HIS SIX SONS. HARVEY, JR. ARTHUR. WILLIAM. HARVEY, Sr. ALF. GEORGE. FRED. or be not a mistaken one, either directlyindirectly engaged in the cycle trade. Pere DuCros was the first of the family tovisit America. He came to place the Americanrights of the Dunlop tire, and closed with A.Featherstone, of Chicago. Later, Georgecame over and spent some months in theFeatherstone factory, and when the AmericanDunlop tire plant was established in this cityhe was sent hither and is now in charge ofone of the departments. He appeared on thepath at Passaic, N. J., last.August, but some-thing went wrong and he failed to secure aplace. He will, however, extend himself a bitthis year, and the American public will thenbe able to obtain a glimpse of DuCros form. Alf and Harvey, Jr., are also now perma-nently located in New York. They look afterthe business interests of the company and willdo no racing. But both are thoroughly good properly understood they would take everyadvantage of a
