The Administration Building stands in the centre of the GrandPlaza, and is at the same time the centre of the architectural features So ADMINISTRATION. of the Fair. This Plaza is a great open space, rectangular, andbounded on the north by the Mines and Electricity Buildings,on the west by the terminal railway station, and on the south bythe Machinery Hall. Its eastward aspect is toward the Lake, but between the Plaza and LakeMichigan lie the clear watersof the Grand Basin, centralfeature of the Lagoon systemas the Plaza is of the land-scape system. The view lake-wards over the Basin passesfirst the McMonnies fountain,one of the most beautiful orna-ments of the Exposition, andthe electric fountains, withtheir sprays of rainbow-coloredwater.
