This point being solved, it is easy to come at the sense of the remainder, namely, many of the like sect, or character, shall fall—which doubtlessly means, like places of worship ; and, with the historical fact before us, we are able to show how awfully the prediction was verified; for, from the 2d of September, in the precise year that had been specified, when the fire broke out, in the space of three days, eighty-nine parish churches and 13,200 dwelling-houses were reduced to ashes.
