The celebration occurred on the recurrence of hisbirthday, he having been born at Point Pleasant, Ohio, on April27, 1822. His tomb stands on a height of land at the northend of Riverside Park, New York City, where a fine view of thebeautiful Hudson is had, and is a just tribute to a truly great man.
