Summary edit

Description
English: The cinder rocks, Baildon Moor That is what we called it when I was a boy. I had hoped to carve roads in it for toy cars, but it was far too hard and rough! It is technically called scoriae, and is waste from iron smelting. It has been dated to the medieval period by pieces of pottery found in it during an archaeological excavation in the late 19C, but unfortunately there is no documentary record of the industry.
