A rabbit still larger than the Belgian may be obtained bycrossing it either with the Patagonian, the Flemish Giantor the Lop-Eared rabbit, but what is gained in weight is lostin extra weight of bone, quality of meat and good looks, ornon-conformity to the accepted standard, the color beingfaulty, or something else being the matter. Still, the criticmay say, it has more meat and a bigger pelt than the trueBelgian. Nevertheless, breeders have agreed not to sacri-fice the beautiful hare-like shape and handsome color of thetrue Belgian. Fix the foregoing first principles and definition of termsfirmly in mind and you will be able to comprehend intelli-gently the next lesson on how to buy.
