S. Anderson/ Capri
Notes Sophie Anderson and her artist husband Walter moved to Capri in 1871 in the hope that the warmer climate would improve their health. Inspired by the vivid colours of the country around her Sophie painted many exquisite works featuring local models, often clutching or playing with the beautiful wild flowers that grew in abundance on the island. Sophie lived in Capri until 1894 when she returned to England, where she remained until her death in Falmouth in 1903.
