Summary edit
DescriptionThe header tank structure at the top of the trwnc incline - geograph.org.uk - 599671.jpg |
English: The header tank structure at the top of the trwnc incline This incline was originally powered by a water wheel. Later it was converted into a water balance incline. Normally, such an incline has two tracks and uses the weight of water in the descending tank carrying an empty wagon ("tanks" being the moveable platforms- with tanks of water beneath - on which wagons ride up and down the incline) to pull a laden wagon riding on an empty tank up the parallel track. The same principle was used here, except that there was a special formation built alongside to carry the balance tank. The tank was filled with water from the header tank. |
