ARTICULATIONS OF THE HEAD 265 Interspinous Ligaments (2, fig. 346).—In the dorso-lumbar regionthere ia a series of short fiat layers of connective tissue passing in abackward and downward direction from the posterior border of the superiorspinous process of one vertebra to the anterior border of the one succeedingit. In the cervical region they are composed of elastic tissue to allowof a more extensive and free movement of the neck.
