When the foundation of this Club becamean accomplished fact, there was considerableopposition, not only from the Toy BulldogClub, but from numerous British Bulldogv owners and breeders, whose princ pal oppositionarose upon the two points : Was there sucha breed as French Bulldogs ? Could any other dogthan the British specimen claim the name of Bulldog ?Much ink was spilt in a wordy warfare in the KennelPress. No good object can be attained, however,in reviewing the details of past differences. The French Bulldog Club letgrow under their feet;members, they pluckily de-cided to hold a show oftheir own, to demonstratethe soundness of their posi-tion. Their first show wasaccordingly held at Tatter-sails, fifty-one French Bull-dogs being placed on ex-hibition.
