It is a free-growing compact plant, withovate wrinkled pseudobulbs bearing a pair of broad oblongleaves, and producing erect racemes of lovely pure whiteflowers of considerable size ; the lip is yellow inside, stripedwith orange. It should be grown in a pot, with an abundanceof drainage.—India : Khasya, Neilgherries. EiG.—Bot. Mag., t. 5G01 ; Batem. 2nd Cent. Orch. PI, t. 188 ; Wight,Icon., t. 1G39. C. COrymbosa, Lindley.—A very distinct and beautifulspecies, having large flowers three to four inches across, whichare produced in an upright corymbose raceme which is thrownup with the young growth. The pseudobulbs are oblong,terete, the leaves oval, narrowed into a petiole, and the sepalsand petals ligulate-lanceolate, creamy white, the lip being white,with two bright yellow ocellate spots or eyes surrounded bybrown margins ; the throat is also marked with yellow andbrown. It flowers during June and July.—India: Khasyahills, at 4,000 to 5,000 feet elevation.

CCELOGYNE CRISTATA. 218 ORCHID-geoweks manual. C. cristata, Lindley.—A magnificent Orchid, dwarf and ofevergreen habit, with leaves about six inches long. Theflowers, six or eight together, proceed from the base of theoblong angulate pseudobulbs in a diooping raceme, each flowerbeing three or four inches across, with charmingly undulatedlanceolate sepals and petals ; the colour pure white, with aprominent blotch of yellow on the crests of the lip. Itblossoms in February and March, and will continue in per-fection four or five weeks if the flowers are kept free fromdamp. This plant, which is largely grown for cut flowers, isthe finest of the genus, and in fact one of the finest of allOrchids, and ought to be in every collection. We have seenon a specimen grown in the collection of J. Buchanan, Esq.,Edinburgh, as many as 600 flowers at one time ; and onanother, grown by Mr. Cross, at Melchet Court, seventy-fivespikes are recorded as being produced, the specimen measuringfive feet acro
