Summary edit
DescriptionThe physicists Paul Dirac, Wolfgang Pauli and Rudolf Peierls, c 1953. (9660575591).jpg | Shown here in Birmingham, Paul Dirac (1902-1984), Wolfgang Pauli (1900- 1958) and Rudolf Peierls (1907-1994) were three influential theoretical physicists in the 1940s and 1950s. Peierls was working at Birmingham University, England in the 1940s when he and Otto Frisch (1904-1979) suggested that only a kilo of uranium-235 was needed for it to be a powerful nuclear weapon. Birmingham University prepared uranium of high purity from this time onwards. |
