Summary: A boy looks into a peep show to see twelve pictures of recent events in the British empire. 1) Lord North borrows money from Jews while Spain declares war on England. 2) The English general Burgoyne kneels to American troops at Saratoga. 3) Burgoyne and Howe defend their war conduct in Parliament while North sleeps. 4) Greenwich pensioners complain to Lord Sandwich about his dismissal of an administrator who exposed abuses. 5) Richmond tries to get redress for the dismissed administrator. 6) Burke and other Rockingham Whig members of the opposition make a pudding in Parliament. 7) Fox attempts to remove Palliser from the navy and Sandwich from the admiralty. 8) The militia on the island of Jersey beats off a French attack. 9) No-Popery riots in Scotland instigated by Presbyterians. 10) A non-importation resolution in Dublin against British clothing manufactures. 11) English papists laughing at Protestants due to passage of the Catholic Relief Act. 12) English customs house with nothing going on because of lack of business. One of the important things to note is that America is hardly the central focus and occupies but one of the twelve pictures.
