Description
English: "The south and east view of Brickley Lodge in Needwood Forest, 1786," watercolour, by the artist J. Spyers, showing the southeast view of Byrkley Lodge, set in Needwood Forest, a Georgian home owned by Hamar Bass of the Bass brewing family. In the late 18th century a medieval hunting lodge on the site was pulled down and replaced by the Georgian home designed by Sir Robert Edis. (That home has now been pulled down as well.) The surrounding park lands and pond were landscaped as part of the Bass estate. Courtesy of the British Library, London.
