One of the chief sup-porters of Antony became so nauseated that he appeared in the Senate andopenly declared his abhorrence of his late master. Then he went to Octaviusand revealed the testament of Antony, which reeked with treason. It declaredthe child of Cleopatra and Caesar the heir of the Dictator, and ratified Antonys

Antony still had friends, and they now begged him to wrench himself freefrom Cleopatra. He replied by divorcing his legitimate wife, thus breakingthe last legal tie that bound him to his country.
