ii FROM PORTSMOUTH TO MALTA 19 library of 600 volumes, containing works of the mostvaried kind, from light novels to ponderous encyclo-paedias. Besides the officers of the Royal Navy, a list ofwhom is given in Appendix A, the Ophir carries125 bluejackets, 100 marines, 7 engineer officers, withan engine-room complement of 88 ; 37 bandsmen, apurser, 50 stewards, some 30 private servants, 20 boys,9 cooks, 3 bakers, 2 butchers, 1 laundryman and hiswife, 1 printer, and 2 hairdressers.
