Summary edit

Description
English: The weir on the River Wenning, Hornby This is a relatively new weir, constructed after 1891. Was it made by the owner of Hornby Castle to make a deep stretch of water for boating? The castle has a 13C pele tower, altered in the 16C, but this is hidden by the 'romantic' house of 1849-52, built for Pudsey Dawson, a financier. There was more building for the Forsters of Bradford in 1889, and further alterations in the 20C.
