Description
English: Portrait of Thomas, Lord Vaux. Black and coloured chalks, pen and Indian ink, metalpoint on pink-primed paper, 27.9 × 29.5cm, Royal Collection, Windsor Castle. This is a rectangular detail of the irregularly cut drawing. Thomas Vaux, 2nd Baron Vaux of Harrowden, was a poet, the author of posthumous verses in Tottel's Miscellany, 1557. He served as Captain of the Isle of Jersey. Holbein drew a later portrait of him. He also drew Vaux's wife, Lady Elizabeth.
