Summary edit

Description
English: Tibbie Shiels Inn Viewed from Oxcleuch Rig in early February. The inn lies on the Southern Upland Way at the southern shore of St Mary’s Loch, and takes its name from Isabella (Tibbie) Shiels who moved here with her husband in 1823. After her husband died the following year, she set up the inn and played hostess to many famous people until her death at the age of 95 in 1878. James Hogg (The Ettrick Shepherd) was a regular visitor. The inn has been altered and extended over the years.
