  • 1758-1862: Waaggebouw, Nieuwmarkt
  • 1798: Bij de opheffing van het gilde overgedragen aan de Commissie van Geneeskundig Toevoorzicht.
  • Tot 1862: in 'de kamer van Hovius' in het Waaggebouw.
  • In 1862:, samen met de andere schilderijen in 'de kamer van Hovius' verkocht aan Schouten, na toestemming van het gemeentebestuur. *1864: Geëxposeerd in de academie voor Beeldende Kunsten, Oudemanhuispoort.
  • June 1864: samen met 14 andere van het chirurgijnsgilde afkomstige schilderijen, voor fl 6000,- van Schouten gekocht door een Commissie van Kunstliefhebbers, kunstenaars en geneeskundigen en door deze commissie aan de stad geschonken.
  • 1864: Daarna geëxposeerd in het Athenaeum Illustre op het Singel en in het Paleis voor Volksvlijt;
  • 1864-1878: Athenaeum Illustre;
  • 1876-1878: Amsterdamsch Museum, Koninklijk Oudheidkundig Genootschap;
  • ca. 1877-1885: Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten, Oudemanhuispoort;
  • 1885-1926: Bruikleen aan Rijksmuseum,
Inscriptions
Nederlands: opschrift links achter, tegen de muur, op een kast: INSTRUMENTA CHIRURGICA. Ao MDCCLVII opschrift op de rug van één der boeken: PRIVILEG van het COLL.CHIRURG.
