English: Tir-yr-onen in May Translates as 'land of the ash tree' - a species which prefers the calcareous soil arising from the Carboniferous Limestone which underlies this patch in the upper part of the Hepste valley. The sloping summit plateau of Pen y Fan and Corn Du can be seen on the skyline.
