Summary edit
DescriptionTodaiji c002.jpg |
English: Built to house the Great Buddha, the main hall of Todai-ji is said to be the largest wooden building in the world. Even so, the Great Buddha can barely fit inside the present hall (the original hall was even larger.) When the great hall was rebuilt in 1709, several anachronistic features were added, such as the "Chinese" curved
gable over the middle entrance. |
