Summary edit

Description
English: Tomb of Hugh Despenser the younger Tomb in Tewkesbury Abbey that originally had an effigy of Hugh Despenser the younger, later replaced by a sarcophagus and slab for Abbot John Coles (1328-1347) Hugh Despenser was the Royal favourite of King Edward II, popularly thought to have been homosexual lovers and widely despised by the Queen and the Barons. He met a very grisly end in 1326 - hung, drawn, disemboweled, beheaded and quartered as a traitor with his penis and testicles cut off and burned before him whilst still alive Hugh_Despenser_the_Younger
