Summary edit

Description
English: Tomb of Jean Cochrane and Son, Kilsyth Erected in the 19th century, the large tomb was built around an old vault that had once been part of the old church.

The vault contains the earthly remains of Jean Cochrane and her son who died tragically in 1695. The story of their demise is carved into the stone on one face of the edifice. They were killed in Holland when the roof of a building collapsed.

Note that Historic Environment Scotland describe this structure as "in the corner of the graveyard there is an octagonal watch-house (Category B-listed), built in 1816 to guard against the activities of body-snatchers" [1] and "Squat octagonal stone tower in corner of graveyard" [2].
