This library was originally located at St. Pauls Hall (formerly known as Yorkville Town Hall). In 1903 James Bain (Chief Librarian), negotiated with Andrew Carnegie for a grant, and received it. The grant was $350,000 and was used to build one centralized library, and three branches. The first library they constructed/designed was the Yorkville Library. They moved the old library known as 'Northern' into its own building as oj June 13, 1907 when the Yorkville Public Library building was officially opened to the public. The classical style with modern style gives the library building a sense of history and knowledge and how architecture just like books, is past on from one generation to th next.
