Description Tenth century stirrup in the royal armories in the Tower of London. The tag on the exhibit states: "Stirrup. Over a thousand years old and of a type the Vikings would have recognized, this iron stirrup has inlaid brass scroll decoration on its outer surfaces. European, 10th century. Said to have been found in the River Thames. vI.128."
