Summary edit

Description
English: Town house in the centre of Kirkcudbright built circa 1770. In use as Dumfries and Galloway Council Offices. One of many fine buildings in the town. This one has clearly been lovingly restored. Kirkcudbright was once a thriving port at the mouth of the River Dee and became an important and fashionable artists' colony in the 1930s. Artists still work in an around the town and there are a number of private and public galleries which hold exhibitions.
