| Description |
English: Town wall, Carrickfergus (1). Carrickfergus was founded by the Norman John deCourcy who built a castle there in 1180. The town wall, started in 1579, was completed in 1615. Some of it has long since disappeared and some is little more than a few stones. This section off Joymount is the best preserved.
