It makes a beautiful vine, climbing 6 to 8 feet, and producing for six weeks a profusion of very large inverted pea-shaped flowers of an elegant shade of pale violet-blue. The sketch (page 3) shows the size and appearance of a leaf and flower. It blooms very freely the first year from seed. The seed should, however, be soaked in very hot water until it swells, and then sown imme- diately. Price of seed, 40 cts. per oz., $1 per %\b., $3.50 per lb. Price of root cuttings, $1.50 per ioot $10 per 1,000. KOSTELETZKYfl VIRGiniCH. This is one of the Malvaceae that is well worth a place in any garden. It makesarobust plant 2 to 3 feet high, covered in late summer with beautiful rose-pink flowers lyi inches across, opening al- most flat. It has been called Pink Beauty, " a very appropriate name. It is hardy with a little protection. It blooms the first year from seed, but much better the second year. We have a fine lot of both one and two- year tubers. Price of seed, 75 cts. per oz.. $3 per l/xVo , $10 per lb. of tubers, i-year, $4 per 100, $35 per 1 000 ; 2-year, $5 per 100, $45 per 1,000.
