English: At this time in Taxco's history, the en:Combi was popular for mass transit, and taxi cabs were white VW Beetles. A scene such as this, when those were the only vehicles present was not infrequent. Streets near the center of town were cobblestone, others dirt. There was terrific sound from this area. In addition to the characteristic sputter of the VW engines, people whistled to communicate driving instructions, honked horns to say "stop," "go," or "hello," and one or two people directed traffic at the intersection with a pea whistle.
