English: Transition The Managed Retreat of the sea defences has at this point created a "natural" transition from saltmarsh to grassland that is really rare these days. You can see the sea lavender on the left and verdant “normal” grass on the right. For hundreds of years land like this would have been grazed by sheep. If left untouched it is likely this grassland will eventually turn into scrub and then woodland re-creating a habitat that vanished round here centuries ago; coastal woodland. However a more likely scenario is that rising sea levels will expand the saltmarsh up to the new seawall on the right.
